2017 Progressive Action Plan - Do you have one?

During the last eight years we moved forward with some progressive ideas, taking a tentative step towards health care. Electric cars became a reality and are starting to gain ground. Renewable energy sources are gradually coming on line. The LGBT community gained acceptance.

But there are other things we are not making enough progress on and which will be set back by the election of Donald Trump.
The climate continues to warm and feedback loops are kicking in as sea ice dissipates and the darker ocean absorbs more heat when the ice is not present.

Conspiracy theories run amok and distract people from making decisions based on well established facts.

I have decided to set out an agenda that I personally can accomplish to combat the regressive trend in our. Whether it will make a difference or not is debatable but I saw the energy that small donors and individuals brought to Bernie Sanders campaign and I think that if we can all inspire each other then though we may be going through a dark time, we can come out ahead in the end.

First I am making a list of organizations that I will donate to during the year.
You may wish to make your own list. The key is to realize you don't have to give thousands or even hundreds to each organization. Give 50,25, or 10 dollars.
Give to one a week or one a month, if that is too much pick two and make a commitment to your self. Or...give time.

Some other sources

I hope that many of you become regular readers of this blog. I am not sure how many hours a week I will put in to maintaining it but was beginning to feel like I needed a more defined and appropriate place to express my thoughts.

I am just one voice though and there are some other really good quality web sites out there. Some of my favorites are Alternet, Antiwar, American Friends Service Committee, Shannyn Moore and Americans Who Tell The Truth. Please Check Them Out

But......and this is really important!......If you believe in a single payer health system, more public transport, green policies, whatever! take the time to call or write your US Senators and congressional representatives telling them in simple and courteous language what you desire them to do. Be sure to give your name and let them know you are a registered voter. It does work wonders if enough of us do it and do it consistently. Just talking to ourselves does nothing for our cause.

What WE spend our money on says a lot about us....

What we spend our money on says a lot about us..

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. The world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hope of its children. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

You say we don't have the money for health care?

I say we are spending way too much on our military.

We need to be spending more on
Education,
Health care
Sustainable Agriculture
Clean Energy Technologies

The above quote is by Dwight Eisenhower by the way, not exactly known as a flaming "liberal".
